FRAC Supports Bill That Would Provide Healthy School Meals for All, Reduce Childhood Hunger 

WASHINGTON, May 7, 2021 — The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) strongly endorses the Universal School Meals Program Act of 2021 released today by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), and Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.). The proposed bill would ensure that all children have access to nutritious meals while they are at school, summer and afterschool programs, and child care.

WASHINGTON, April 28, 2021 — Today, President Biden presented the anticipated American Families Plan, a comprehensive plan that will strengthen federal nutrition programs that impact millions of adults and children and go a long way to support struggling families. The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) is thrilled that the Biden administration has heeded the calls of anti-hunger organizations to address the growing hunger gaps in child nutrition driven by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Food Research & Action Center Extremely Pleased George Floyd Received Justice

WASHINGTON, April 20, 2021 — The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) is extremely pleased that George Floyd and his family received justice today with a jury finding Derek Chauvin guilty of Mr. Floyd’s murder. 

This is an incredibly important and symbolic moment for the country as we continue the important work of addressing systemic racism, which has been over 400 years in the making.

FRAC Applauds USDA Decision to Extend Key Child Nutrition Waivers Through Entire 2021–2022 School Year 

WASHINGTON, April 20, 2021 — The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) applauds the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its decision to extend critical nationwide waivers at a time when the country continues to witness startling increases in the number of households with children experiencing hunger. The waivers are extended through the 2021–2022 school year. We look forward to working with USDA on any additional waivers that are needed to ensure children’s access to the much-needed meals that are available through the child nutrition programs. 

Food Research & Action Center Condemns Racism and Police Brutality

WASHINGTON, April 13, 2021 — The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) is deeply saddened and outraged by the recent police brutality in Minneapolis and Windsor, Virginia. They are tragic reminders that there is still much work to be done in addressing the systemic racism and racial bias that exist in our country.
