WASHINGTON, February 9, 2017 — The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) jointly released a comprehensive new resource on how to identify and address childhood food insecurity. Addressing Food Insecurity: A Toolkit for Pediatricians provides information on how to screen patients for food insecurity, address the topic in a sensitive manner, and advocate for greater food security for children and their families.

Washington, September 20, 2016 – According to FRAC’s analysis of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being surveys conducted in 2014 and 2015, one in five households with children suffers from food hardship nationally, and in nearly half of the states.

Washington, September 13, 2016 – According to today’s Census Bureau annual release of income, poverty and health insurance data, the 2015 U.S. household median income rose and the poverty rate fell to 13.5 percent, but it is still well above the pre-recession level of 12.5 percent in 2007.
