Statement attributable to Luis Guardia, President, Food Research & Action Center

WASHINGTON, February 23, 2021 — The Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) is pleased with the Senate’s overwhelming confirmation of Tom Vilsack as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. Secretary Vilsack has received bipartisan praise and support from Congress and today’s overwhelming Senate confirmation underscores the confidence in his leadership.

FRAC looks forward to working with Secretary Vilsack to protect and strengthen federal nutrition programs to help address our nation’s hunger crisis that has been deepened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We now urge the Senate to quickly confirm President Biden’s other cabinet and sub-cabinet nominations. Federal agencies working to address the overlapping public health, education, climate, and racial justice challenges need to operate at their full capacities to address our country’s critical needs at this moment.
