The NIH issued a Request for Information (RFI), “Research Opportunities to End Hunger, Food and Nutrition Insecurity,” to solicit feedback on innovative and multidisciplinary research avenues to address the systemic factors underlying hunger. FRAC responded to this RFI, providing extensive research explaining the vicious cycle between poverty and hunger, the reasons for persistent inequities in poverty and hunger, and how stigma perpetuates hunger. FRAC’s response includes examples of effective coordination and innovative interventions to address hunger and critical areas for future research.
