WASHINGTON, March 21, 2019 — SNAP helps low-income seniors afford the food they need for their health and well-being, yet FRAC’s data tools find that just 42 percent of eligible seniors (60+) are using  SNAP on average each month — compared to 83 percent of all SNAP-eligible people that participate in SNAP. 

WASHINGTON, March 11, 2019 — The president’s harsh fiscal year (FY) 2020 budget calls for spending cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) of $220 billion over the next 10 years. Such astronomical cuts will not only increase hunger and poverty, but will worsen health outcomes, decrease the ability of children to do well in school, and lower productivity, all of which will extract a heavy toll on the American economy.
