Child care food agency representatives heading to Capitol Hill with 25,000 paper "Links to a Smart Start" from children will gather for a press availability on:
The thousands of multi-colored, decorated paper "links" have been handmade by children across the country. They will be delivered to Members of Congress by delegates urging support for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). CACFP is a federal nutrition program that provides meals and snacks to three million youngsters. CACFP is subject to congressional reauthorization this year. Each "link"
in the paper chains symbolizes one of the many children who are served
by CACFP. The links will adorn the ballroom where 400 delegates to a national
anti-hunger policy conference begin meeting on Sunday, February 22nd.
The meeting is sponsored by the National CACFP Forum in cooperation with
the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) and America's Second Harvest.
