How to Schedule Your Senate
and Congressional Appointments
Schedule your appointment in advance:
- The capitol switch board number is 202/ 224-3121
- Tell the receptionist your name, organization and mention that you are a constituent.
- Ask for the Congressional Aid or Staff person who deals with your specific issue; this is who you want to meet with. If the Member is in the office that day and available, you can ask that they be present as well.
- If you speak or leave a message with the Aide or Staff person, tell them what you want to discuss and when.
- Some offices have a staff scheduler, and you can make your appointment through him or her.
- Some offices prefer that a faxed appointment request letter be sent to the Scheduler. A sample letter and outline can be found below.
- Additional information that is specific by Senator or Representative can be found at either www.house.gov or www.senate.gov.
- After you have finalized your appointment, please forward the appointment details to Iris Chavez (Ichavez@frac.org) or Ellen Teller (Eteller@frac.org), as they will compile a master list that is available for Conference attendees to view on the FRAC website.
